Ammon City Council Withdraws Impact Zone Proposal

AMMON - City councilmembers in Ammon voted unanimously to withdraw a proposal to expand the city's impact zone.

The proposal is for land west of Hitt Road and south of 65th St.

Thursday night's vote comes after the city of Idaho Falls complained the proposed expansion was in a zone in Idaho Falls territory.  According to a memorandum of understanding in 2001, Idaho Falls and Ammon agreed that Hitt Road would be the boundary between the two cities in Bonneville County.

Wednesday night the Bonneville County Planning and Zoning Commission reduced the proposed amount of land.

Ammon city councilmembers also agreed to work with the city of Idaho Falls as it continues to look to the future needs of Ammon.
