Calisaia, Sauleyce, and Jayla want to be placed together and have the opportunity to grow up in the same adoptive family. The girls want prospective adoptive parents to know that when they have lived together in the past, they did very well. Smart, artistic, outgoing, and open to new experiences, Calisaia enjoys art, cheerleading, singing and dancing, volleyball, soccer, swimming, and romping on the trampoline. Calisaia also loves animals, especially dogs, cats, and horses. She looks forward to learning guitar. Sauleyce, who is a very loving little girl, interacts well with everyone – foster family, neighbors, teachers, and children at her school and daycare. She has great fun swimming, riding her bike, playing house, coloring and doing art projects, and most any kind of "girl stuff." Sauleyce is enjoying herself in play therapy, too, and benefiting from the experience at the same time. Jayla is a loving, expressive, affectionate three-year old who loves to make people laugh. Favorite activities are creating arts and crafts, playing dress-up and mothering her dolls, riding her trike, and swimming. All three girls love family activities and outings! Calisaia, Sauleyce and Jayla and older sisters, Nikkia (15) and Ashley (13) came into care in August 2007 due to allegations of Nikkia being abused by the mother's boyfriend and the mother's failure to protect. Nikkia and Ashley are now in foster care. After multiple placements, Calisaia, Sauleyce, and Jayla have been in stable homes since April 2008. While Calisaia is in one foster home, and Sauleyce and Jayla in another, they visit weekly and have overnights every other weekend, alternating between the two foster homes. All three girls needed extensive dental work after coming into foster care. Calisaia also has asthma/allergies; Jayla has mild asthma that is well controlled with a nebulizer; and Sauleyce is prone to skin rashes. All three have had hoarding behaviors in the past, and still tend to overeat if they are allowed to do so. Calisaia is now in third grade and attends a small private school. She was home schooled by her foster parent for a period of time to allow her to catch up to grade level. Calisaia likes school and does well with her studies. Her favorite subject is art. Her personal goal for this school year is to do her best to improve her math skills. Sauleyce enjoys being in kindergarten. She attended preschool at her daycare last year which gave her a boost forward in learning her numbers and letters. Jayla is attending a daycare program. With her strong personality, Jayla doesn't always follow rules. When she doesn't get her way, she is apt to hit, pinch and yell. Her foster parents find calm yet firm responses are successful in helping Jayla calm down. Having therapeutic resources in place over the past year has provided the support Calisaia needed to help her deal with her feelings of grief and abandonment, as well as her feelings of anger and frustration with her parents and the foster care system. She is now able to articulate the way she is feeling in very thoughtful, mature ways. Sauleyce continues to work on expressing her feelings and building her self-esteem. She is also learning about appropriate touch via coloring and play therapy. Having nurturing, fun-loving, energetic parents who are highly supportive of school and sports program will go a long way toward helping these three darling girls channel their energy in positive, healthy directions and realize their best potential.
