Ground broken on Idaho Falls new medical, surgery center

Groundbreaking on new medical...

IDAHO FALLS, Idaho (KIFI/KIDK) - Bingham Memorial Hospital and Cardio Renal Centers of America broke ground today for the new Integrated Surgery and Vascular Center.

The new center will host a state-of-the-art surgery center and catheterization lab as well as medical offices. It will have outpatient clinics for those with heart problems, kidney problems, radiology, pain management as well as dialysis.

The developers say they modeled the new facility after the Mayo Clinic. They wanted to create a place where patients can go for all their needs.

"You'll be able to come here and see a variety of specialists in the same day," Jake Erickson, CEO of Bingham Memorial Hospital, said. "And be able to actually get answers to questions you've had about your healthcare for a long time, or better direction of what they can do to improve your healthcare. All with the minds of these great physicians and staff that can help them all along the way."

The center was the idea of many doctors, including brothers Drs. Fahim and Naeem Rahim. They want to give patients a place where they have options and won't have to travel all over town for appointments. They also want to make it a place where patients are cared for and feel like family.

"The biggest value in healthcare is collaboration," Dr. Fahim Rahim, said. "If we can make patients our focus and deliver that promise of empathy and humanity and take your patient that way, we can have amazing outcomes."

The building is set to be completed in October 2018.
