AMMON, Idaho (KIFI/KIDK) - A local thrift store is lending a helping hand to the community. "Backyard Bargains" offers deals to help families in needs.
The store allows customers to fill a bag of clothing for just fifty cents. The owners say they sell a little bit of everything. They say they're not in it for the money.
"It's something we can do to help. You know, we don't make any money on it at fifty cents a bag, we're not making anything. But we are helping. And I always say, we're not going to make a million here but we might make a million friends," says Brenda Stewart, owner.
The family opened the store in honor of their daughter, Aubree, who passed away. They say she loved helping others, and they want to continue her legacy by doing the same.
The family also accepts donations during the holidays. They are also trying to start a non-profit in honor of Aubree.
The store is located on 3330 E 17th in Ammon. Their hours are: Monday, Tuesday, Friday, and Saturday: 10-7, Wednesday: 12-6, and Sunday: 10-6.
