BLACKFOOT, Idaho (KIFI/KIDK) - A new seven-plex movie theatre, the Blackfoot Movie Mill, will be opening in the old Blackfoot Motors building on Bridge Street in Blackfoot.
The Greater Blackfoot Area Chamber of Commerce, Executive Director Julie Ann Goodrich and Mayor Paul Loomis made the announcement Friday.
According to owners Kent & Ingrid Lott, the Blackfoot Movie Mill will show first-run movies offering adult tickets at $7.00 and matinee, child and senior tickets at $5.00.
The Lotts say concession prices are going to be much lower than other establishments, with combo prices (2 drinks and popcorn) being about the same price as a single drink at other establishments.
According to officials, this theatre will have cutting-edge laser projection technology which will make a significantly brighter and clearer picture than traditional theatres.
“This is a huge win for the City and the Blackfoot Urban Renewal Agency as it will be located right in the heart of the historic downtown revitalization area,” said Mayor Loomis.
This project has been a collaborative partnership between the Greater Blackfoot Area Chamber of Commerce, Mayor Loomis, City Economic Development Director Kurt Hibbert, Bingham County and the regional economic development organization REDI.
The theatre is expected to open in June 2018.
