IDAHO FALLS, Idaho - Get your fishing rods out. The pond at Ryder Park (2001 W Sunnyside Rd.) is now open.
Today they released 1,500 Rainbow Trout into the pond. People now have a new spot to fish. They say the new spot is a great addition.
"What this does is provide another recreational fishery for folks that are here in Idaho Falls or visiting Idaho Falls. We're kind of lucky in this area to have great trout resources in Henry's Fork, South Fork and some of our other waters but we don't have great places for new anglers or kids to fish and this really meets that need," says Dan Garren, Regional Fish Resource Manager for Idaho Fish and Game.
"We're definitely excited, the kids got all excited. They're excited to catch their first fishes so we decided it would be good to bring them out," says Alyssa Ybarra-Ames, visiting the park with her family.
The limit is two trout. Once you catch two fish you're done for the day, same rule as the Upper Pond. This system is so everyone has the chance at catching a fish. You are able to keep your fish.
