IDAHO FALLS, Idaho (KIFI/KDIK) - Idaho State Police say they have had a busy year, but a successful one.
Idaho State Police Troopers make it their mission to keep the highways safe.
"We look for criminal apprehension and criminal interdiction. That encompasses a lot of things that are taking place on our highways. We've intercepted human trafficking cases, drunk drivers, suspended drivers, wanted drivers and occupants in the vehicle too," says Lt. Chris Weadick.
They've also added drug dogs to every district.
"Our troopers go through a lot of specialized training on applying the 'look, listen' philosophy and the drug dog is another tool for us to be able to push it to the next level and intercept these drug traffickers that are out here on our highways," says Lt. Weadick.
ISP's work helps the prosecutor's office.
"The folks at ISP are such a professional organization. They put together fantastic cases. Cases with evidence, efficient to prove them guilty in court so we've had a lot of success at prosecuting cases they've brought to us," says Danny Clark, Prosecutor.
Something that Clark says he appreciates.
"I see their hard work, I see their dedication, I see that they do an exceptional job to go above and beyond to keep our community safe."
ISP wants to thank all of the other local law enforcement they partner with. They say without that collaboration they wouldn't be as successful.
