TAYLORSVILLE, Utah (AP) -

Authorities say two suspects were wounded when a multi-city car chase ended in a shootout with police in Taylorsville.

Unified police officials say the pursuit began in Salt Lake City just after midnight on Thursday, when officers tried to stop a man suspected of aggravated robbery.

Police say two suspects got into a car and drove through several cities while firing shots at police.

The chased ended near Salt Lake Community College in Taylorsville when police used spikes to stop the car. That's when a shootout with police ensued, and both suspects were hit.

Authorities say a 31-year-old man is in extremely critical condition and a 19-year-old woman was in stable condition. Officers were not hurt.

Police say two officers are now on leave pending an investigation.
