AMMON, Idaho -- Hillcrest High School is waiting for a big check from Pepsi after learning they've won a $25,000 grant Friday. The school will use it to build a virtual computer lab for its students. The grant is awarded after the community voted online for the school to receive the money.Currently, the high school only has 60 computers for more than 1,300 students. The students will now be able to do more than one research project because of the new lab."Now they are going to be able to have more homework more preparation because it will pay off in the long run. Hopefully their grades will be better this time around. If they are only getting one research paper a year, their grades are not usually been very good on the research paper," said Amanda Byrd, Hillcrest High School faculty member. The school is expecting a check early next week.Byrd said the school will start buying computers as soon as possible.
