SALMON, Idaho -- Contrary to speculation from many in the city of Salmon, the Mayor is not resigning.The city administrator said Monday the mayor never announced he would resign, nor has he written a letter.The mayor is embroiled in a controversy over his desire to fire the Chief of Police. Last week's council meeting was packed with people both for and against that idea.No vote was taken.Another meeting is scheduled for Wednesday June 9, 2010, where the council is prepared to hear public comment on the suggestions by the mayor to fire the chief.The public will be asked to leave the council chambers while they go into executive session.The public will be invited back into city hall when the council votes on whether to retain the police chief.
