IDAHO FALLS, Idaho -- Preparations continue for the much-anticipated Blue Thunder Air Show in Idaho Falls this weekend.
With anticipation come lots of questions regarding access to the air strip and what can be brought into the show.
Show officials say there will be three major access points for people to get to the show.
- Gate 1 is located along Skyline Drive just before the turnoff to Federal Way. - Gate 2 is located at the end of Federal Way near the Fire Station along with the VIP parking lot. - Gate 3 is located along Foote Drive near the ISP Offices
Meanwhile, there are plenty of questions regarding what can be brought into the air show.
Show officials say the following items are allowed:
- All bags subject to search - Folding chairs - Blankets - Baby strollers - Binoculars - Sunscreen - Cameras
Show officials say the following items are prohibited:
- Any food or drink from the outside including coolers - Alcohol (beer will be sold at the event) - Food or beverages (concessions will be sold at the event) - Skateboards, scooters, or bicycles - Coolers - Glass containers - Weapons of any kind - Illegal substances (including narcotics) or drug paraphernalia - Fireworks or explosives of any kind - Pets (except service animals) - Framed/large backpacks - Tents or oversized umbrellas - Items for sale (no unauthorized or unlicensed vendors are allowed) - Unauthorized solicitations, handbills, sampling or giveaways
Show officials say exceptions could be made.
“If there’s someone who is diabetic or hypoglycemic, there is an obvious reason to make special considerations, but we will make those on a case by case basis,” said Ethan Hoffman, a spokesperson for the show.
Hoffman says there will be more than a dozen food vendors at the show selling a variety of different items.
“There will be water for sale, as well as free water available in cups in certain areas of the premises,” said Hoffman, “we have to restrict certain items because this is a functioning airport, and all items are subject to search.”
Another concern is whether the preparations for the show will interfere with flights going in and out of the Idaho Falls Regional Airport on Thursday and Friday.
“The airport will run just as smoothly as it can,” said Hoffman, “the show has its side of the airport of function on, and the rest of the airport will operate as normal.”
