IDAHO FALLS, Idaho -- Idaho Falls bars and restaurants may soon be able to sell beer and liquor on Sundays. But first the city council must approve an amendment to the current city ordinance. The council discussed allowing bars to dispense alcohol and restaurants to serve liquor between the hours of 10 a.m. Sunday and 1 a.m. Monday. All surrounding areas, including Pocatello serve beer on Sundays with the exception of Rigby, Ririe and Rexburg."I certainly believe that alcohol is one of the ills of society when abused but people still have a right to have a choice," Councilwoman Ida Hardcastle said. The Idaho Falls Police Department has researched the idea and has found no significant increase in DUI's with the proposed changed.A public hearing will likely be held on Sept. 9 to get community input.
