POSTED: 6:41 pm MDT August 31, 2010
Rexburg Police responded to six vehicle burglaries early Monday morning.

All six vehicles were unlocked.

The burglars stole iPods, GPS units, computers, cash and two hand guns.

Police said the thefts could have been avoided just by locking the car doors.

Rexburg Police Captain Randy Lewis said they are most concerned about the stolen guns.

"There's a considerable amount of people out there that don't take those necessary precautions that creates a problem for us,” Lewis said. “We can't do the job without them getting involved, the public."

Police said the cars stolen from were at Twin Pine Apartments and apartment buildings off of Pioneer Road.
