Pocatello Police Program Designed New Car In Honor Of Former Officer
POSTED: 6:33 pm MDT September 2, 2010UPDATED: 6:40 pm MDT September 2, 2010POCATELLO, Idaho -- The Pocatello Police D.A.R.E. car just took home "Law and Order" magazine's first place award for best graphic design on a community service vehicle.The car was initially remodeled by local designer Dean Molder, as a tribute to long-time Pocatello D.A.R.E. officer Dan Gilbert. Gilbert died recently from Lu Garrick's disease.The car's design carries on Gilbert's legacy as an anti-drug and alcohol tool. The car's flame designs carries hidden messages like "Just Say No" and "Not Even Once."And the LED TV installed in the trunk doesn't hurt as a teaching tool either."Oh it's extremely effective. I used it in my spring class when we first unveiled it and I can tell you that the level of opening up the lines of communication with kids is just out of this world," said D.A.R.E. officer Kevin Nielsen.
