Police are investigating the cause of a fire Sunday night in Idaho Falls.

The fire was called in around 11:30 p.m. Three engines, one rescue, and one ambulance responded to a home at 2549 East Iona Rd. just off of Yellowstone Ave.

The Idaho Falls Police Department said heavy smoke was coming from the main floor of the home when crews arrived. After talking with the homeowner, the department said they determined the fire was in the basement.

They said crews were able to contain the fire to the basement, but the kitchen sustained fire and smoke damage. No one was injured in the fire, but three dogs and a fish died.

The cost of damage is estimated at $75,000.
