The Boston Marathon bombing suspect who was killed overnight traveled to Salt Lake City in 2009 to compete in a boxing tournament. Records show Tamerlan Tsarnaev competed in the prestigious amateur competition.
The 26-year-old Tsarnaev has been known to the FBI as Suspect No. 1 and was seen in surveillance footage in a black baseball cap.
Troy Fullmer, of Pleasant Grove, Utah, helped bring the May 2009 Golden Gloves National Tournament of Champions to Salt Lake City but doesn't remember Tsarnaev among the 300 fighters competing at the event.
Fullmer said Tsarnaev was eliminated on the first night of the weeklong tournament.
