Following a recent flurry of car burglaries, Rexburg Police believe a possible suspect may have developed a guilty conscience. Some of the stolen merchandise showed up in a pillow case in the lounge of the Chapman Hall men's student apartment building this week.
The building manager put out the pillow case to collect any items students may have wanted to donate to Deseret Industries at the close of the BYU Idaho spring term. The items placed in the bag included seven GPS devices, sunglasses, watches, and an electric razor. With the help of university security, Rexburg Police traced several of the items to several recent car burglaries that had been previously unreported. Over one thousand dollars in merchandise was recovered. Captain Randy Lewis suspects the items were possibly stolen in June.
There is no firm suspect, but investigation into the stolen merchandise is continuing.
