A four-day search for a 14-year-old boy who bolted from a camp for troubled youth has ended with his safe capture in the Utah mountains north of Vernal.
The Utah Department of Human Services says the boy is being returned to a juvenile detention center after a volunteer found him around 8 p.m. Sunday.
The Deseret News reports the boy was found shoeless sitting in a lean-to about five miles from his group's campsite.
Counselors take the boys' shoes from them at night to discourage running away. The 14-year-old took off around 8 p.m. Thursday.
Daggett County Sherriff Jerry Jorgensen says the boy was hungry. He was taken out of the Spirit Lake area by horseback.
The Associated Press is withholding the boy's name because of his age.
