LOGAN, Utah (AP) -

An evidentiary hearing has been set for a Logan father accused of chaining his 6-year-old son to a bed while the man was at work.

Authorities say the boy had access to snacks and water, and the chain was just long enough that he could reach the restroom.

The Herald Journal of reported Monday that a judge set the hearing for July 29.

The Associated Press is withholding the name of the 29-year-old man to avoid identifying the child. He is charged with four counts of child abuse.

The defendant was in court Monday during the brief hearing. He has not entered a plea.

On June 10, Logan police received an anonymous tip and said they found the boy home alone chained to the bedframe.
