A Campbell County man who was found not guilty by reason of mental illness after his father was fatally shot in 2001 has been released from the Wyoming State Hospital.
Floyd C. Reno III, who is living in Evanston in southwestern Wyoming, was acquitted of first-degree murder in the death of 71-year-old Floyd Reno Jr.
The elder Reno died from a .22-caliber gunshot wound to the head. He had been shot two days earlier but didn't realize it until he went to the hospital because of a headache.
Defense attorneys said the younger Reno is schizophrenic and had not been taking his medication at the time.
The Gillette News record reports that as part of his release, Reno's travel is limited and he must report to the hospital daily to take his medications.
