Man dies at Bonneville County Jail

IDAHO FALLS, Idaho -

Bonneville County Sheriff's Office says that on Friday morning at 5:50 a.m. deputies discovered inmate James Slate Dewitt was not breathing.

Deputies gave CPR to the 47-year-old man until paramedics arrived and pronounced Dewitt dead.

Dewitt was living in Idaho Falls and had been arrested for a probation violation Friday at 5:00 p.m.

The sheriff's office says that as part of normal operating procedure a Tri-County investigative team has been called in to investigate the incident.
