A man accused of shooting at an ATV rider and a law enforcement helicopter during a police standoff in marshlands near the Salt Lake City airport has been sentenced to two months of house arrest and a year of probation.
The Salt Lake Tribune reports Second District Judge Glen Dawson on Tuesday sentenced 51-year-old Brian Skidmore of North Salt Lake.
A Utah judge in March found Skidmore guilty of weapons charges, interfering with an arresting officer and failure to respond to an officer's signal to stop.
Law enforcement officials said Skidmore shot at a Utah Department of Public Safety helicopter and a man riding an ATV last July.
Skidmore was arrested after a 2 ½ hour standoff that ended when he shot himself in the neck as SWAT members surrounded his car.
