A Mormon missionary from the Dominican Republic has been killed while serving in Colombia.
KSL-TV reports that that Jose Daniel Encarnacion Montero was killed Saturday when he was hit by a stray bullet.
Officials with The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints say the young man was with three other missionaries when he was killed. The other three were unharmed.
Colombian police are investigating the incident.
Encarnacion's death comes on the heels of the death of 19-year-old LDS missionary Jason Wiberg of Roy, Utah. Wiberg died Aug. 25 after being hit by a car while on bicycle in Kuching, Malaysia.
There are 75,000 Mormon missionaries serving around the world — more than at any time in the church's history.
