GARDNER, LARRY JOE
HAMILTON, Mont. (AP) -

Police say a Pocatello man in a stolen pickup led police on a high-speed chase that ended when he became stuck trying to drive up a popular western Montana ski slope on Friday.

Prosecutors say a law enforcement officer in Darby spotted the pickup driven by 67-year-old Larry Gardner of Pocatello speeding down Main Street.

The driver led police on a 30-mile chase from Darby to the top of Lost Trail Pass.

Prosecutors say Gardner turned into the ski area's parking lot and tried to drive up the ski slope but became stuck.

Officers later learned the truck had been stolen in Hamilton.

Gardner appeared in justice court Monday on charges of criminal endangerment, theft, fleeing a police officer and speeding.

The Ravalli Republic reports his bail was set for $75,000.
