River Heights boy dead for days before body found
A medical examiner's report indicates a River Heights toddler had been dead for about 10 days when authorities found him in his home in September.
Authorities say they haven't determined an exact cause of death for 2-year-old Eli Rutchey, whose body was discovered Sept. 4.
Cache County deputies say his 42-year-old mother, Heidi Rutchey, showed up at Logan Regional Hospital seeking treatment for unspecified reasons. Staff members became concerned about her son, and deputies discovered he was dead in the apartment.
Cache County Attorney James Swink tells The Herald Journal the body was badly decomposed. Swink says investigators are gathering facts about what happened and charges are pending.
