IDAHO FALLS, Idaho -

After experiencing the devastating loss of a close friend to pancreatic cancer, The Defining Line Salon owner Amy Hanson decided to put together an event to bring more attention to the disease.

"A haircut can't in and of itself can't cure cancer, but the idea of community gathering around, we're a small enough company and we can't really do anything amazing unless our clients and community get involved," said Hanson.

Pancreatic cancer is the fourth leading cause of cancer-related death in the U.S. About 6 percent of those diagnosed with pancreatic cancer are expected to live for five years.

The team at The Defining Line Salon will be hosting a luncheon for pancreatic cancer awareness at The Snow Eagle Brewery in Idaho Falls on Saturday, Nov. 3. Tickets for the luncheon start at 35 dollars and include half-price discounts for salon services.

Tickets can be purchased by visiting the salon at 425 River Parkway in Idaho Falls or by calling (208) 523-2229. All proceeds from ticket sales and donations will go to the Pancreatic Cancer Action Network.
