Twitter comes out with political index
It tracks positive and negative comments about the two presidential candidates
Twitter is now measuring feelings about President Obama and GOP presumptive presidential nominee Mitt Romney on the micro-blogging site.
It revealed its political index -- or Twindex -- on Wednesday.
Twitter teamed up with data analysis company Topsy and two polling companies to create the index.
Buzzfeed.com reports the index compares tweets about the candidates to the positivity and negativity of all tweets on all topics.
The index, found at election.twitter.com, will update each day at 6pm Mnt time to reflect the daily views on the candidates.
It also features a graph that shows the candidate's peaks and dips.
One of the most notable peaks for President Obama is the day after he announced his support for gay marriage (May 9th, 2012). About that same time, a notable dip for Mitt Romney.
