JEFFERSON COUNTY, Idaho -

Emergency crews responded to a wildfire on the Jefferson/Madison county border and one in Fremont County on Wednesday evening in the wake of thunderstorms.

A possible lightning-caused brush fire occurred north of Highway 33 on the Jefferson/Madison county border.

The fire was said to be burning in the Twin Buttes area earlier; however, that could not be confirmed.

Jefferson, Madison and BLM firefighters were on scene. A BLM spokesman said the fire was 5 acres and was likely not threatening any homes, as was mentioned earlier as a possibility.

In Fremont County, a wildfire from a lightning strike was reported on the Egin-Hamer road. It burned about 4 acres in the desert, on BLM land. A power pole was hit by lightning two miles west of St Anthony. Power was out in parts of St. Anthony and Ashton.
