A woman died in a crash that happened Saturday night just north of Firth along Hwy 91.

According to the Idaho State Police, Chester Lewis, 68, of Caldwell, was headed north in his Geo Metro, when he came across several pedestrians crossing the street.

Lewis swerved to avoid hitting anyone, but still hit Frances Montgomery, 62, from Idaho Falls.

Montgomery had to be air lifted to Eastern Idaho Medical Center and later died from her injuries.

Hwy 91 was blocked for an hour-and-a-half while police investigated.

This happened just one day after a motorcyclist was hit along that same stretch of road.
