Police have recaptured a 27-year-old rape suspect who was accidentally let out of the Salt Lake County Jail.
Jail officials say Anthony Santos Moultry found Thursday morning after he was wrongfully set free Wednesday. He had been booked on rape, burglary and other charges.
Salt Lake County Sheriff Jim Winder says the sheriff's office accepts full responsibility for the release. He says police had obtained an extension to keep Moultry in jail until charges were filed later Wednesday, but the order was somehow overlooked.
A jail report shows Moultry was arrested Saturday, after he allegedly came into an apartment in Murray in the middle of the night and raped a victim.
The victim also told police her wallet was stolen. It was later found near Moultry's apartment building.
