State and Teton County fire managers are taking a new approach to a fuels reduction program they oversee for the federal government.
This year, Teton County plans to have a full bidding process for the $250,000 logging program they administer for the U.S. Department of Agriculture.
The Jackson Hole News & Guide reports (bit.ly/133Vylq) the fuels-reduction work will take place on Snake River Ranch, a cattle ranch in Jackson Hole.
A federal audit last year criticized the way that a committee allocated spending for the program.
This year, county fire managers expect to issue a formal request for proposals and meet with all bidders before awarding the contract.
