Joshua Robinson, director of the Back 2 School Giveaway, said every year gets bigger and bigger, and this year was no exception.
With volunteers helping families with parking, staying hydrated and entertaining the kids, this event has grown to be something many families depend on to get their children the school supplies they need.
A main part of the event is having fun for the kids, like Disney princesses and Star Wars characters to take pictures with. Robinson said they don't want the families to feel any type of stigma or shame when it comes to needing help.
"We were having a hard time with money," said Mary Boswell, saying with enrollment costing so much, she was worried her kids couldn't get the things they needed to attend. "We figured it would be an easy way to help them out because they needed school supplies."
She said she is grateful for the time and effort everyone puts into putting together the giveaway. The event happens every year in August at the Gate City Christian Church, 202 W. Siphon Road in Chubbuck.
