A lawmaker hoping to cut down on drunk driving is working on a bill that would put devices to test blood alcohol levels in Utah bars.
Draper Republican Rep. Greg Hughes said Thursday he's still working out the details of the proposal but he hopes it would help younger drinkers in their early 20s who are still learning their limits.
He hasn't determined yet if devices such as Breathalyzers would be mandatory for all bars or just those with infractions.
Hughes says he's also considering making it an incentive rather than requirement for bars. Use of the devices would be optional for drinkers.
The Salt Lake Tribune reports Hughes hopes to have the bill ready next week.
