Caribou-Targhee wants to sell Island Park ranger station

ISLAND PARK, Idaho - This could be your chance to own an iconic Island Park property. The Caribou-Targhee National Forest is proposing to sell the Island Park District office through a competitive bid process.

The facility became un-needed after the forest merged its administrative offices with Ashton in 1996.

The property, which consists of a 4,526 square foot office building with associated parking areas, is at 3726 U.S. Highway 20 near Ponds Lodge on about 2 acres of land. If sold, the use of the land would stay essentially the same.

The forest is preparing environmental documents to comply with the National Environmental Policy Act. The property will be offered on the open market and the bidder offering the largest purchase price would become owner of the land and building.

The forest is accepting public comments until Jan. 11, 2013. Comments should be sent to:
