IDAHO FALLS, Idaho -

From X-rays to cavities, more kids were given brighter smiles Thursday after dentists across Idaho gave kids free dental work in honor of Give Kids a Smile Day.

The Idaho Falls Dental Group participated as well. Dentist Rex Thompson said it's important to start off with a good dental record early to avoid poor dental health down the line.

"We usually try to start seeing kids as quick as they have teeth," he said.

Thompson also said dentist bills can be too expensive to make those regular visits possible, so Thompson and his other colleagues picked up the tab for almost 50 kids Thursday.

"It's a great opportunity being able to serve people here in our own community. We do get to go to other countries a couple of times a year and to be able to serve people around here is very nice," said Thompson.
