BONNEVILLE COUNTY, Idaho (KIFI/KIDK) - The music program at one District 93 school keeps growing. The beginning orchestra class at Rocky Mountain Middle School has about 80 kids.
Kids are loving the program and becoming passionate about music. The three o' clock class on Thursdays has every seat in the room filled.
Their music teacher Eric Wenstrom says it's amazing to see so many kids in the district excited about music.
"It's just an amazing thing where we're at with our program right now. We had trouble finding space to fit us the other day in the concert. So, it's an amazing thing to see Bonneville, this little district in Idaho falls, we're cranking out good players we're cranking out great orchestras too," says Wenstrom.
Mr. Wenstrom doesn't just teach. He's worked with Chris Mann and Lee Greenwood. He's had stuff played by symphonies all over the world. What he really loves is teaching the youth.
"Be able to pass that onto the kids who are where I was at this time. It's an amazing thing. It's a great feeling to see the torch is going on and it's getting bigger every year," Wenstrom.
And the kids appreciate it.
"He's not just one of those strict teachers that are always so serious. He always adds a little bit of humor into everything and along with his humor, he also teaches very good," says one sixth grade student.
