BONNEVILLE COUNTY, Idaho (KIFI/KIDK) - Music as a learning tool. That's what the kids in Bonneville School District 93 are once again experiencing.
After a 10 year hiatus, the district once again has a music program for elementary students. The program was cut due to the recession but now enough funding is available.
It's not just music, they have integrated math and other subjects. Their music teacher says it's a good way for the kids to express themselves.
"I'm super excited that it's back because I feel that it's so important that we have music in schools because without the arts it's hard for children to express their emotions and feel those things. It's so important for the left and right brain to communicate with each other and I feel that through music it's able to do that," says Brianna Kirkham, music specialist.
The kids are enjoying the class and the teachers are appreciating the chance to have some extra time to get their lesson plans together.
