The Idaho Attorney General's office says former Minidoka County sheriff Kevin Halverson has pleaded guilty to felony misuse of public funds.
Attorney General Lawrence Wasden issued a prepared statement Tuesday saying Halverson acknowledged misusing a Minidoka County gas card to buy fuel for personal reasons. As part of his plea agreement, Halverson resigned, and he may be disqualified from holding a public office in the future.
Prosecutors said Halverson used the county credit cards to buy less than $300 worth of gas for another female county employee between November 2012 and January 2013. He is scheduled to be sentenced Sept. 13.
