A teacher in California has been arrested after authorities found hundreds of dead snakes in his home.
Police in Newport Beach searched the home of William Buchanan, 53, after neighbors complained about a "god-awful" stench, Los Angeles TV station KNBC reported.
They found more than 400 pythons inside. Just two of them were alive.
"The smell alone -- I feel like I need to take a shower for a week," Cpl. Anthony Bertagna told The Associated Press. "They're pretty much in all the bedrooms -- everywhere."
Neighbors told the Los Angeles Times they called Buchanan the "rat man" because of frequent deliveries of rodents to his house.
He now faces several animal cruelty charges.
