Idaho Falls man named to Parks and Recreation board

IDAHO FALLS, Idaho (KIFI/KIDK) - Louis Fatkin of Idaho Falls has been selected to represent district six as a member of the Idaho Parks and Recreation Board.

Fatkin is a long-time volunteer for the National Park Service. He retired from Eastern Idaho Regional Medical Center after 36 years in medical management, most recently as executive director of risk management for the hospital.

"I am interested in being an advocate for park users and for the outdoor community," said Fatkin. "In addition, I am committed to stewardship of state and public lands and preserving our parks for future generations."

Board members are appointed by the governor to six-year terms.

The board manages 30 state parks in every region of the state and oversees registration programs for boats, snowmobiles, and other off-highway vehicles. Money collected through those registration programs goes back to users to develop and maintain trails, facilities, and programs.
