IDAHO FALLS, Idaho - The Bonneville County Sheriff's Office is investigating a shooting incident at 1481 Carson St.
The Sheriff's Office said 36-year-old Travis Best was shot in the arm around 9:30 p.m. Tuesday. Best was inside his home when a woman and two men entered.
Witnesses told Local News 8 on Tuesday night that a man living in the house had fought with a woman Monday. They said they saw people barge into the house Tuesday night, but didn't think they would have a shooting in their neighborhood.
"We moved in from the country, and I thought it was a dainty little neighborhood and a dead end street, not much action. Oh no, I was wrong," said neighbor Rachelle Stuart.
Stuart said she has had several run-in's with gang members in the area and believes this was a prime example of their increased presence throughout the county.
"I think Idaho Falls needs to do more for the kids, and the teenagers because the gangs are moving in and they're grabbing our kids," she said.
Sgt. Jeff Edwards, with the Bonneville County Sheriff's Office, said they don't have suspects or even a motive, but they are sure this case wasn't domestic or gang related. He also said deputies don't often see this level of violence.
"We get a lot of people disturbing the peace and speeding, but this is abnormal for our area when three people enter a home and someone gets shot," said Edwards.
The Sheriff's Office said Best was not cooperating with the investigation.
Anyone with information about the shooting is asked to call the Bonneville County Sheriff's Office at (208) 529-1200 or Crimestoppers at 522-1983. Callers may remain anonymous.
