BYU-Idaho students plan field day for Journeys clients

RIGBY, Idaho - Students from BYU-Idaho organized a fun day in the Rigby sunshine Thursday for special needs children and adults.

Students said it's the hands-on portion of their "event management" class.

Over the last couple of months, they planned a field day and a BBQ for the clients of Journeys, a development therapy service provider.

Around 300 kids and adults from Idaho Falls, Rigby and Rexburg showed up.

From the games, food, activities, even getting the local fire department to bring a truck for everyone to see; the group of 4 students say they did it all and learned a lot from it.

"We have about 6 to 8 different groups in our class and a lot of them did their projects at the school, but we decided we wanted to do something more community based to give back to the community here," said Cira Fear, a BYU-I student.

The students said they didn't have a budget for the event, but a handful of local businesses pitched in with donations.
