POCATELLO, Idaho - You may want to think twice about burning your trash or a fire in the Pocatello area.
The Pocatello Fire Department has issued a burn ban on solid fuels in areas near wildlands effective immediately. This is due to current fire danger and fuel moisture level. The affected areas are marked in yellow in the map under "Related Content" attached to this story.
The fire department has made an exception for gas and charcoal fire pits or grills for food preparation.
This ban will be in effect until Oct. 1 or whenever the department feels it is safe to repeal.
If you want to have an open fire within the city, you need to have a special permit from the fire department.
