The family of Noelle has released the following statement:
"We are very grateful for the generosity, love, thoughts and prayers that have been expressed to us at this time. We have a great community of family and friends and wish to say thank you to all."
Police are calling the shooting death of a 5-year-old girl an accident.
Police said she was at a home on the 600 block of Canal Street in Chubbuck visiting with friends when she was shot by another 5-year-old on Wednesday around 3 p.m.
In a news release Thursday, police said adults were in the home at the time of the shooting, but they were in a different room.
When EMTs arrived, the girl was not breathing and they administered CPR. She was transported by ambulance to Portneuf Medical Center.
PMC told Local News 8 on Wednesday evening that the girl had died.
No further details are being given at this time.
"We understand the community's concern and interest in this case," police said in a statement Thursday. "However, no names are being released, and we ask that everyone keep those affected by this incident in your thoughts."
