Cable Factory opens wakeboarding park

REXBURG, Idaho - The Cable Factory opened a new wakeboarding park on Rainbow Lake near Rexburg.

"We have beginner cable and the beginners can go back and forth. That's what I'm most excited for, teaching kids how to wakeboard," said owner Brett Kesler.

"Brett went out on the paddleboard and he taught us how to get up and sit and now I'm getting really good," said 10-year-old Payton Van.

Two towers are suspended 750 feet across the lake, and an operator controls the cables pulling riders back and forth.

"We want to create this area as a recreational spot for eastern Idaho. We brought in sand for a beach area, we have paddle boards for rent so you can rent those new stand up paddle boards. The paddle boards area really popular. We have some kayaks for rent. The fishing is amazing out here so you can come out and do anything out here at the lake," said Kesler

"Everyone who tries it is sold on it and they just love it," said manager Matt Vansteenkiste

The Cable Factory is open Monday through Saturday 10 a.m until dark. It offers wakeboarding and water skiing lessons. Two hours are $20. In July the Cable Factory will start offering paddle board yoga classes.

June 22 is the Cable Factory Grand Opening Beach Party. There will be music, food, and a performance by professional wakeboarders.
