IDAHO FALLS, Idaho - A woman used her grandmother's money to help herself for the past year and a half, Idaho Falls police said Wednesday.
On Tuesday morning, Lyndsey Sue Whitney, 30, was arrested at a home on Maple Street, which she and her grandmother shared, on a felony arrest warrant for abuse, neglect or exploitation of a vulnerable adult.
Detectives began investigating Whitney in April after the 87-year-old grandmother talked to other family members, who notified Adult Protective Services, which in turn notified police. The older woman said she was being abused and financially exploited by Whitney over the last 18 months. She told police Whitney was not providing her enough food and medication.
Police did not disclose the amount of money they said Whitney stole.
She was booked into the Bonneville County Jail.
