Local DACA protest takes place

IDAHO FALLS, Idaho (KIFI/KIDK) - A local DACA protest took place in Idaho Falls Saturday morning on Broadway Bridge. Protesters gathered to show their support for Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals program and for Idaho immigrants frequently referred to as "Dreamers."

"We feel its an important thing to say, 'We support these people.' There's 31,000 'Dreamers' in Idaho, so there are obviously going to be some in Idaho Falls. We want then to know they're supported and we want people here in Idaho Falls to know that we support them," said Elizabeth Cogliati, the founder of Idaho Falls Progressives.

Other protests took place across the Gem State against the changes to DACA. At the time of the Idaho Falls rally, there was one on the Capitol steps in Boise. There were also protests in Twins Falls and Moscow.
