Court records show an 83-year-old Utah man acknowledged fatally shooting his stepdaughter, expressing no remorse for his actions.
Nathan Zimmerman was charged Friday with first-degree murder. His bail was set at $500,000.
A probable cause statement shows that Zimmerman confessed to intentionally shooting his stepdaughter, 57-year-old Janet Colleen Goode. Zimmerman told investigators he fired one shot at Goode's chest as she approached his house in the small city of Parowan in southern Utah.
Zimmerman said his intention was to kill Goode and no one else. He said he had no remorse.
Court records show officers found Goode lying in the driveway in a pool of blood.
Authorities don't yet know the motive, but court records show Zimmerman's wife filed for divorce the same day as the shooting.
