Man arrested after BYU-Idaho disturbance

REXBURG, Idaho - A St. Anthony man is being held on charges of disturbing the peace and delaying and obstructing a police officer after a disturbance at the BYU Idaho Kimball administration building in Rexburg on Thursday afternoon.

Brigham Young University-Idaho spokesperson Merv Brown said Matthew Scott Mason, 28, became unsettled and created a disturbance in an administration office around 1:30 p.m. Campus security officers met Mason in a second-floor hallway, and Mason left the building on his own accord.

Rexburg police later found Mason at the Maverik convenience store on North Second East, wrestled him to the ground and took him into custody.

Mason was arrested July 31 on charges of delaying and obstructing a police officer.  He was being held in the Madison County jail pending arraignment on the new charges.
