CENTENNIAL, Wyo. (AP) -

Authorities say a man has been shot and wounded in a Centennial church, possibly after interrupting a burglary.

The Laramie Boomerang reports the shooting occurred late Tuesday in Centennial Valley Community Church.

Albany County Undersheriff Rob DeBree said the victim was airlifted to a Cheyenne hospital. DeBree declined to release the victim's name or any information about his injuries.

Deputies were searching for a suspect and residents were asked to stay in their homes.

The Wyoming Highway Patrol was assisting at the scene.

The exact time of the shooting wasn't clear but the search was underway by about 10 p.m.

Centennial is a picturesque village at the foot of the Medicine Bow mountains about 30 miles west of Laramie.
